Arawood Finally Shows his Appaloosa Style!!
In his very first outing under saddle the lovely Arawood Finally and owner Nikki Weatherhead really showcased their Appaloosa Versatility. In 10 classes Finn and Nikki won 9 and had 1 second placing, culminating in being awarded the coveted Champion Ribbon. What a fantastic effort from a young horse. Nikki reports that most people loved Finns loud colour, expressive movement and natural tail. Appaloosas do have tails! Congratulations to Nikki and Arawood Finally on a superb effort!!
Dam and Daughter show well In Hand at Nelson!!
Nelson Horse and Pony Breeders 40th All Breeds In Hand Show 12 Feb 2017.
It was a delight to see the Dam and Daughter pair of Cayuse 3 n 1 and Cee Ima Triple Version out representing the Appaloosa Breed at the recent Nelson Horse and Pony Breeders Show. Cayuse 3 n 1 was being shown by owner Caz Pellowe, owner also of Cee Ima Triple Version, who was being shown by Tania Lawrence. Both horses did exceptionally well and we congratulate Caz and Tania on their fantastic efforts, a win and many placings. Cee Ima Triple Version was on her very first Show outing. Well Done Ladies!!
Kiss Me Kate shows the Led/In Hand Ring how it’s done!!
Rotorua A & P Show and Te Puke A & P Show
Leigh-Ann Hill and her lovely Appaloosa mare, Kiss Me Kate took a gamble and entered the English In Hand Classes at the recent Rotorua A & P Show and Te Puke A & P Show. Competing against mostly Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods and purpose bred Sport Horses, Leigh-Ann and Kate surpassed even their own expectations and collected a neck full of ribbons at each outing. A first, second and three thirds at Te Puke and another First, two seconds a third and a fifth at Rotorua. One Judge commented to Leigh-Ann about how lovely Kate was and that she was the only horse there that the Judge would like to ride! Congratulations to Leigh-Ann on her wonderful efforts with Kate, proving , yet again that Appaloosas can take on the big boys and show them how it’s done!!! We look forward to watching Leigh-Ann and Kiss Me Kate competeing at the Combined Appaloosa and Paint National Show at Kihikihi on 17th, 18th and 19th March 2017.
GAB’s Whata Kracka makes an impressive showing!!
Monday 6th February 2017 – Ashurst Pohangina Horse Sports.
In a very impressive display of the talent, versatility and sheer goodness of the Appaloosa Horse, Allison Mercel and the evergreen Appaloosa Stallion GAB’s Whata Kracka competed at the Ashurst Pohangina Horse Sports Day. Considering it has been 5 years since Kracka last competed and neither he, nor Allison have done an English Sports Pleasure Competition before the results were rather spectacular.
They placed second in the Best Presented, the Novice Mount and the Combo of two horses. Placing first in both Novice Paced and Mannered and Open Paced and Mannered, Kracka then went on to take the Champion Pleasure Mount. Allison also won the Open Rider Class and the Bareback Rider Class. They were again placed First in the Learners Horse Class. It is incredible that the Judges chose a Stallion as the horse they would be most likely to put learners onto!!! The team rounded out the day by being the Overall High Point Winners!! What an achievement!!
Congratulations to Allison and GAB’s Whata Kracka, outstanding results and Thank You for Showcasing all the very best aspects of the Appaloosa Breed. We all look forward to watching Allison and Kracka competing at the 40th Appaloosa National Show 17th,18th,19th March 2017 at Kihi Kihi.
North Island All Breeds In Hand Show
7 & 8 January 2017 at National Equestrian Centre, Taupo.
A superbly run Show, a little different than most of us are used to, but a fantastic experience. With classes for Registered Appaloosas and Unregistered Appaloosas there were some gorgeous horses there. Some of the Members and Registered Horses seen were Leigh-Ann Hill and Kiss Me Kate, winners in the Mare Section. Allison Mercel and GAB’s Whata Kracka alongside Comanche Warrior represented our Stallions. Cee Im Too Hot To Zip and Caroline McKnight in the Junior Geldings and the stunning Cotton Eye Joe and Linda Wheeler were winners in the Senior Gelding, Champion Gelding, Most Colourful Appaloosa and the Supreme Champion Appaloosa. Linda and her gorgeous 3 year old also competed in many of the other classes available to them and they did themselves and the Appaloosa Breed proud, winning a great many classes. Congratulations Linda & Cotton Eye Joe.
